  16.     because some of these callers don't seem to understand that what  
  17.     they are doing is ILLEGAL and I hope by running this twice, it will
  18.     get the message home......?????????

  20. I would like to make a stand against all the " quick cash " type of files
  21. that seem to be again circulating various BBS's.
  22.                                                                                
  23. A file called MAKE$$$$.TXT, which first appeared a couple of years ago, and    
  24. has since surfaced with many different names, has started appearing again!     
  25.                                                                                
  26. When the original file was being circulated to various BBS's, copies of it     
  27. were submitted to:                                                             
  28.                                                                                
  29. 1) US Postal Service                                                           
  30. 2) The Federal Trade Commission                                                
  31. 3) The FCC                                                                     
  32. 4) and the Attorneys General of 30 difference states                           
  33.                                                                                
  34. for evaluation under the Main Fraud and Chain Letter Laws...                   
  35.                                                                                
  36. It was found that even though the letter would be transmitted via FCC          
  37. controlled methods, the actual moneys would change hands via the U.S. Postal   
  38. Service.                                                                       
  39.                                                                                
  40. This being the case, letters of this type are, in fact, proposing an illegal   
  41. activity involving chain letters and pyramid schemes....                       
  42.                                                                                
  43. It is NOT LEGAL!! Meaning very simply put  IT IS ILLEGAL!!                     
  44.                                                                                
  45. It was also determined that the FCC and U.S. Postal Service would prosecute    
  46. any person or persons who willfully distribute this file or its derivatives    
  47. to any BBS.                                                                    
  48.                                                                                
  49. IT IS ILLEGAL IN ALL 50 STATES to have, distribute or offer files of this      
  50. type...THIS IS A FEDERAL CRIME!! ( A FELONY!! )

  52. *** WE STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT YOU POST THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE FOR ALL ***
  53.                                                                                
  54. Please be advised that the appearance of ANY chain-letter or pyramid scheme    
  55. file on "BBSNAME" will cause us to report the name, address, and telephone     
  56. number(s) of any caller who posts or attempts to post it or any similar file   
  57. on this BBS to the U.S. Postal Service, Federal Communications Commission,     
  58. and the California Attorney General.
